Day 2 is Set to Go for RRISD NTO

Student Panel with Marc Prensky
Day one of the Round Rock ISD New Teacher Orientation was incredible. Some reminders for day 2 and we want to share a video from someone on our teacher panel today. First things first, when Marc Prensky today talked about expecting more from our students, that also means expecting more of ourselves. And I want to to share a video from one of our teacher panelists today, Patrick Boylan from Round Rock High School. I had the opportunity to share it in the second session, but you all in session one missed out. I dare you to watch this only once. And who else wants to re-enroll in Chemistry?

Don't fee like you already need to create something like that. I wish I could. Let's learn together.
So, day two. First things first - lunch on your own from 11:45-1:15. We will have water service available throughout the day. You will sign-in when you get there in the Walsh Commons. Find the tables labeled with the first letter of your last name before heading to your class. From there on, if you have any questions where to go, find someone at the information table.

Here We Go! Day One Announcements.

Welcome to Day 1
Welcome to your first day with Round Rock ISD. We are going to make it easy on you. Just follow the crowd. As long as you can make it to Walsh Middle School before 9:00 you can't get lost. Everyone, whatever you are teaching, will have the same experience today. Just be in the gym at 9:00 and we will take it from there.

A couple items to keep in mind:
  • There is no need to sign-in upon arrival. You will be registering your attendance in the afternoon session.
  • If you brought your own device and would like to use the RRISD wireless, thank you. To get online, choose the RRISD Guest network, open a browser window and follow the prompts on the screen. You will be asked to either OnBoard your device then allow your device to connect automatically throughout the school year at every RRISD location. Or, you can sign-up for a 24-hour password.
  • Lunch is on us today in the cafeteria from 11:30-12:30. There will also be complimentary coffee and pastries in the cafeteria from 8:30-9:00. Lunch on Aug. 13th is on your own.
Please feel free to stop by the info table in the commons area for any and all other questions. For frequent announcements and celebrations during the day, follow #rrisdpd on Twitter and join the Round Rock ISD Professional Development Google+ Community.

Welcome to Round Rock ISD. Let the Learning Begin!

All Children Will Learn...Whatever it Takes. A complexly simple motto that sums up what we are all about.

We make every decision based on that motto. We are a high-tech district. You will hear about Next-Generation Digital Classrooms, Google Apps for Education, seemingly hundreds of acronyms for our systems and processes. Yet, the central idea anyone in Round Rock ISD needs to keep in mind when making a decision is, "Will this help children learn?"

And we learn together. We all contribute to the Aligned Round Rock Curriculum (ARRC) which guides day-to-day instruction. We collectively look to the future to provide a world class education to each student and provide a world class working environment for every employee. Welcome to the team!
Round Rock ISD Professional Development
Your experience with Round Rock ISD will start with New Teacher Orientation on Aug. 12th and 13th at the Raymond Hartfield Performing Arts Center and McNeil High School. Your two days will be filled with introductions to the systems and people that make Round Rock ISD work.

Marc Prensky will keynote Aug. 12th
On day two, you will get to know our curriculum and work on content-specific activities. Day three, Aug. 14th will be spent getting to know your new campus.
